“Art for art’s sake,” is my creative theme for 2009. Words, graphic art, and video are the medium. Here, it’s all about the woodland creatures. And by “snaring” I mean imagining them doing people stuff (most of the time).
2009 brings new things in many ways, so for this year I’m saying, ”Out with the old blog, in with the new.” It is a year for more family fun. It is a time for innocent laughs at no one’s expense. It is a time to be silly, instead of being a gloomy gus.

Nice idea to keep it simple and in the moment. Wish I could do that. I’d worry so much less…but isn’t it us worriers who are keeping the others on track?

I read the other day that Frank Lloyd Wright said, “Art for art’s sake is for the well-fed.”
Well, maybe it’s true. After all, anyone who knows me will tell you that there’s no denying I’m well-fed. Big boned, some might say.
Regardless of Frank’s derision, I stand by my conviction that it’s OK — and even a positive exercise and healthy practice — to make art for no other reason than because it feels good.

A Quick Poem
- On Doodling -
Whistle, whittle,
Dance and doodle,
Sing and sculpt,
Or bake a strudle.
Sketch or hum,
Or skip or draw,
And share your world
With childlike awe.
